My family and I took a trip to Boston in July 2006. This guide was incredibly helpful. We used this little book our whole trip. There is a great section on Boston on a budget and a wonderful map in the back.

What a great guide! The size of this book made it very easy to carry as we hiked around Boston. Plus, the combination of text, photos, and maps made it easy to quickly review the days’ destinations.

I purchased this book and the Boston Frommer’s 2009. In summary, they each had too much information, presented in cluttered manner. After gleaning through these books for weeks, I still had not come up with a suitable itinerary for our trip. One day before leaving for Boston, I visited a neighbor who recently returned from Boston and borrowed her copy of Boston For Dummies (Dummies Travel). Well, this was the book for this dummy!!!! We carried it the entire trip and left the other two at home. It was presented in the most simple and conscise manner and had very easy to follow and practical sample itineraries. Skip the other two, get the “dummies” book.

Used this book for a 2 day trip. I like the pictures and images and history, but it’s a bit light on other things. It didn’t do as good of a job helping to prioritize. I’d buy them again, but only as a supplement to other bigger guides, not as my primary.

As with all Eyewitness Travel Guides – you can’t do better. Great breakdowns by area, highlights of top tourist places and lots of other items of interest, also a great brief history. The book brought out lots of special interest info that the guides didn’t even talk about.
